In Bardiya, 17% of the rural population lack access to any drinking water on their premises and only 25% have access to drinking water treated with appropriate methods. The vulnerability to infections from contaminated water sources is high (90%) among poor communities. (NDHS) Part of ADRA's Health Reform Project includes the provision of safe drinking water through the installation of a YAMAHA water purification system. The project comprises the construction of water faucets at five different locations, extending the water supply pipelines by almost 5,000 meters, benefitting 300-350 families.
